BECOME A MEMBER
Any member in good standing of the WGC can nominate new members. Applicants should have a demonstrated ability to play golf by the Rules of Golf, be over 18 years old, and be able to play to a maximum handicap index of 36.4 (men) or 40.4 (women). The nominating member will become the sponsor for the applicant and the sponsor will be the first point of contact for the new member with any questions or concerns.
The information requested in the membership application (below) should be emailed to the Board of Directors with the subject, “New Member Application” to ensure that we act on it quickly. The board will consider the application, and, if approved, the President will send the new member a welcome letter with our “Information for New and Returning Members” document attached. The new members would then submit their annual dues using the current WGC payment method and don’t forget to note in the comments that the payment is for a new member(s).
If the new member doesn’t have a GHIN number, one will be provided by the Handicap Committee Chair. To compete in all aspects of our events, a player must have a handicap index. To get an index the new member will need to post scores to either the GHIN app or the GHIN internet site - the new index will appear the next day. The new member can post up to 20 of their most recent scores (there is a minimum of 3 scores, but the more scores posted, the more accurate the index will be). Note that when posting scores for a handicap index, each hole score should be capped by a net double bogey (Equitable Stroke Control) so, unless the hole-by-hole scores are capped, post hole-by-hole scores.
WGC New Membership Application information is below. It is a very simple process with no form to complete, just provide the information listed below.
The current WGC Member/Sponsor takes their applicant's information and emails it to the president's email address. The WGC Member-Sponsor provides the applicant with the same payment method(s) used for an event as found in any of our WGC newsletters. The new WGC Member applicant sends their payment amount for single or family into the WGC treasurer. The WGC president creates the new member's GHIN # via the USGA website and GHIN emails the new member with instructions to complete their profile and add in golf scores to establish their handicap index.
